Let's EmpowerHER in Education Together! 

On the International Women's Day, March 8th, 2024, we came together to celebrate the achievements of women in K-12 education and explored avenues for empowerment. 

 

WorldEd Foundation acknowledges the significant role that women in education plays in shaping a sustainable and equitable future. So we gathered to amplify the voices and experiences of women educators in K-12 education. 

Event Highlights

The event brought together 61 registered participants from South America, Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean. It was truly a global gathering of educators, advocates, and leaders passionate about empowering women in K-12 education. 
 

The diverse perspectives shared by our panelists and participants sparked thought-provoking conversations and inspired actionable insights for empowering women in education.
 

During our EmpowerHer virtual panel discussion, participants were invited to share the unique superpowers they believe women bring to the field of education. Here are some of the most common superpowers mentioned:

Passionate educator and Vice Principal devoted to student growth, overseeing faculty operations, and supporting special programs for educational excellence.

Esteemed educator with diverse experience and commitment to educational excellence, shaping practices as a Trainer of trainers and Lead Evaluator.

Program Director of the Girls Global Ready Program, dedicated to driving positive change and youth empowerment, with leadership experience and advocacy for the arts.

Ms. Andrea Gardner, USA 

A global education specialist and advocate for inclusive, innovative education and youth empowerment. A graduate of Columbia University, she has a background in International Human Rights and Political Science, and holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Hunter College with specialization in learning and behavioral disorders. 

Andrea brings over a decade of experience in fostering equitable learning environments worldwide. Andrea currently works as a global educational consultant, advocate, and instructional coach. She is the CEO & founder of Together We Lead, a global education consultancy dedicated to educational equity and inclusion for all.

Ms. Dahlia El Malatawy, Egypt 
An educator with 29 years of experience, specializes in English language Arts instruction and academic leadership. With a focus on fostering creativity and critical thinking, she champions student-centered learning environments that prioritize inclusivity and collaboration. 

Ms. Alina Roberts, Grenada 

A seasoned educator with over 16 years of experience, brings a wealth of expertise as a qualified teacher and youth worker. With a degree in psychology and a role as Commissioner of Girl Guides, Alina is dedicated to empowering youth and fostering inclusive learning environments. 

Ms. Stephanie Schneider, USA 
A passionate educator with over 15 years of education experience, is deeply devoted to student growth and fostering positive learning environments. With a background in Literature and Psychology from UNC Chapel Hill, she brings a wealth of knowledge to her role as Vice Principal. Dedicated to overseeing faculty operations and supporting special programs like FACE (Fine Arts Competition) and International Debates, Stephanie is committed to educational excellence. As a pop culture enthusiast and theater lover, she infuses joy into the school community and cherishes time with family and friends outside of work. 

Dr. Jouhaida Al Rawi, Lebanon 
An esteemed educator with a Ph.D. in English Language Quality Education from Newman University, Kansas, USA, brings over 24 years of diverse education experience across Egypt, Lebanon, and the Gulf countries. With an MA in Educational Leadership and a BA in English Language from the Lebanese University, she has served as an educator and academic director in multiple countries, including Lebanon, Egypt, UAE, and Saudi Arabia. As a Trainer of trainers and Director of curriculum and instruction in Egypt, she has played a pivotal role in shaping educational practices. Additionally, her role as Lead Evaluator in Cognia since 2018 underscores her commitment to educational excellence.

Ms. Kaja Posnik, Poland 
A scholar of the British Alumni Society and the Clinton Global Initiative University, Kaja is dedicated to driving positive change. She serves as the Program Director of the Girls Global Ready Program at the Girls Future Ready Foundation, honored as the 2023 European Young Innovator Champion by the World Summit Awards. A third-year neuroscience student at University College London, Kaja brings leadership experience from her involvement in student-led conferences and international communities. Passionate about women and youth empowerment, she actively engages as a panelist in various youth events and conferences. Alongside her academic pursuits, she founded the 'Breath of Art' podcast and advocates for the arts, particularly musical theatre.
